What causes it here
Irrigation spray hitting the glass day after day is the number one culprit in the Phoenix valley, followed by salt air near the coast and construction overspray. Each deposit leaves minerals behind that bond to the surface of the glass.
Our restoration process
We assess first, then use graduated mineral-removal compound and polishing to remove or lighten up the hard water spots. Light spotting is often handled the same day. More severe hard water gets a walk-through and its own quote.
Then we help you prevent it
Once the glass is restored, we'll show you which sprinkler heads are causing the damage and recommend a service interval that keeps deposits from rebuilding. Recurring customers save 15% on four cleanings a year, or 10% on two to three.
Why those white and brown spots appear
Hard water is water with a high mineral content, like calcium. When it evaporates, it leaves those minerals behind as spots — from sprinklers, hosing off the house, run-off from the roof or stucco, even power-washing before a paint job. Then the sun bakes it in. Glass isn't perfectly flat — it has tiny divots that collect debris and hard water — so if it's left untreated, the staining can become permanent. The sooner you attack the problem, the better.
Stage 1 vs Stage 2 hard water
Stage 1 can be fully removed with scrubbing, polishing, and extra time and effort — the glass comes back clear. Stage 2 is different: the extreme hard water has permanently etched the glass, so complete removal isn't possible. The stains will lighten noticeably, but some marking will still be visible. We'll tell you honestly which stage your glass is at before we start.
